It seems like every year I talk about how I am going to get in shape and lose weight. Surprisingly enough, last year, I did end up losing weight. Ok, it was a little over a year but still I did it. I couldn’t believe it. It took me less time and less energy than I expected. Want proof? Here ya go!
I know. Kinda crazy. I just showed this comparison to my husband and his eyes just about bugged out of his head. Sometimes you just lose yourself and let yourself go.You just don’t realize how bad it is until you see a picture.
Yes, I know you are saying, “But Jayme you are all about embracing your body…”
Yes, I am all about embracing my body, but I also realize that you need to take care of yourself. My father has diabetes and so do several other family members. I am not going to be that person. I just can’t do it. I want to be around for my kids. I want to be able to play with them. I want to be able to have dance parties with my kids without being winded after a few minutes. I want to be healthy.
If I can do this, you can do this. I would much rather sit on the couch with a bag of chips and watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians or whatever mind-numbing crap I can watch on TV, but I realize that it really isn’t the healthiest thing to do and it does not make me a good role model for my kids.
Even more motivation for me to keep the weight off and maybe shed a few more LBS is the fact that I am starting a Biggest Loser competition at work. The winner gets MONEY! Now who here wouldn’t be motivated by money? I am a greedy person. I like money. Seriously, who doesn’t?! If I can win money because I am losing weight…hello…no brainer here! And the best part, it is by percentage of weight loss, not LBS so really anyone can win, but it is going to be me.
Of course I have a lot of other resolutions that I will make this year and, of course, I will fail at them because I read somewhere that about half of the resolutions that are made are not met. Don’t ask me where I read it. I just did and I don’t lie so you have to believe me. OK, good.
The one that I am going to not fail at is getting healthier. The bonus about getting myself healthier is that my family is going to be healthier whether they like it or not. No more junk. No more unhealthy meals.
Let’s do this.
Who’s in with me?

Money, money, money! Why do you think I keep logging my workouts in a beachbody ;]
I don’t even remember you looking like before picture, at all. I am so proud of you and your resolve to get healthy! I want to be a great example for Nathaniel as well. :]

Awesome job Jayme! Those are all awesomesauce reasons to loose weight!
I wish I had someone to do a Biggest Loser contest with at work (and win! money!) but unfortunately all I have are a bunch of men who eat like 15 year old boys. *sigh*
I find it was easier to loose weight and be healthy when I worked with another woman/en that also had the same mindset.

Trust me. Not all of the guys are in on this. Half of the office is so the other half has decided to try and sabotage the half that is trying to lose weight. It’s funny. No one is going to sabotage me. When I originally decided to lose weight it was one of my co-workers (female) who helped me. We did it together and it was nice to have someone to cheer me on.

I hate dieting and exercise more than the average person, I think, but I came to this same realization. I look terrible in pictures. I am carrying MORE weight now than I ever have while NOT pregnant.I’m about where you were in April 2010. I don’t like it. It’s not about being skinny, it’s about being able to carry Luke without my back hurting, or getting on the floor and playing with him, or chasing him around without feeling like I have to sit. I’m not getting any younger. I’m not getting any healthier without some changes. Best of luck to you and you know I’ll be following along on your journey!

You know that is the same way that I feel. It is not about being skinny, it is about being healthier. I always get so tired and can barely find the energy to play with my kids. I just hate it!

Wow! You have done such a great job! Good luck winning the money (and yes, money is a good thing.)
Thank you! Money is definitely a good thing. Now the guys have decided that we need to do a percentage lost and a pounds lost winner. They don’t think it is fair just to do percentage lost. So now there are 2 different ways to win and the winners get $130 a piece. I could get some new clothes with that money!

You look amazing Jayme! I seriously need to lose weight.
Heather’s Happenings recently posted..Baby It’s Cold Outside.. WW
Thanks Heather! It really did take a long time and some effort on my part. You just have to be in the mind set to do it. It also helps to have your family on board too. It sucks when you are trying to diet and your husband starts eating chocolate truffles and Doritos in front of you. And yes, that happened.

Awesome job Jayme! My sister battled with weight problems from the time she was around 8 until shortly before she got married when she was 27. She lost an entire person’s worth of weight (over 100 lbs.). I’m very proud to say that she now wears the same size clothes I do (I’ve always been on the lean side), and doesn’t even remotely resemble the woman she was when she was so heavy. Kudos to you on your accomplishment!

Thanks Cheryl! I have always battled with weight problems. I really have to be careful. It was not fun being a chubby kid. Luckily my kids have good metabolism so far and I want to make sure that I set a good example for them as well. I don’t want them to ever have to struggle.

I found a picture of me the other day from this time last year and I was like really scared. I did not try to lose weight, and I may not notice it every day, but I have lost.
I will send you a photo. Your eyes will do a Dave (that is what I am going to call that now).

Watching my mom over the last year and knowing that much of what she was going through was due to her weight and diet I want to get it off. I do not wnat my kids to have to see me go the way we did her.

For me, I’ve been trying to stay away from sugar more often because that is my weakest point. I will let you know how that goes!

Hey! You look great!!! I have gained back the 7 pounds I lost since the last time I saw you this fall
Now I am towards the top of my wieght range. I need help!!!!!! Just got to talk someone into taking pictures. I am in too. When do we start and what is the plan for keeping each other motivated? I want to get down to the weight I was at your wedding. That puts me at needing to lose 15 pounds.
Jayme – you look amazing! Funny, I didn’t realized you’d lost that much but remember recently thinking your face looked thinner in recent photos! Good.For.You! Good for your health!

Jayme, did you ever know that you’re my hero?! You are inspiring! I struggle with my weight too and it’s really difficult. I’m with you all the way on no more junk and healthier choices! I bagged up all the candy we received over Christmas and took it into work…it was gone within minutes…and best of all…not tempting me when I’m at home!

So I’m going to look as good as you if I lose 30 lbs? Wait, I have to lose 30 first. Great job and good luck with the contest!
So fabulous how you look but how you feel is really the key I think. I just might be able to accomplish some healthy living goals this year. Yikes, I guess I’m going to have to say them out loud aren’t I? I’ll save that for a post – HA! That gets me out of it for a week or 2:) For money you can bet your, no my jiggly um “backside”, that I could do it!!
You look awesome! I’m very proud of you!! I’ve recently lost just over 20 pounds, and I have about 16 more that I’d like to lose. It’s such a great feeling of accomplishment, isn’t it?
