I always…, I always…ah what do I put here?
I always…jump in with both feet.
I always…pursue something to the end.
I always…reach my goals one way or another. Sometime it takes me longer than others.
I always…listen when a friend needs to talk.
I always…love to give.
I always…love to help others succeed.
I always…share what I have learned.
I always…say what I think and sometimes it gets me into trouble.
I always … Home School!
I always, always, always…Home School or at least it feels like that.
This is my 21st year of home schooling. I have been through grade school 5 times, I guess that would be 6 times if I include going through myself. I am still finishing up my last time through middle school and high school. I actually got out of doing the final two years in high school for the 4th time because my daughter is attending college full time for the last two years of high school. I still get to tutor her in some of her classes but at least do not have to teach.
What I did not learn the first time through each of these grades I have learned by now I think. I was always good at math but never understood English. Now I am fairly proficient at English and if I have any problems I just ask my kids as that seems to be their best subject.
It has been quite a journey home schooling 5 kids and sometimes 4 kids in 4 different grades. I have hosted 3 high school graduations and watched with pleasure as all three went on to some sort of higher education. Today those three are a full time mom, a minister and a commercial diver.
Now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. My last one is in 8th grade this year and I only have 2 graduations left to host.
I have been well rewarded for all of my hard work.
So, I always…a lot of things but the thing that I have always done for the last 20 years is home schooled my children and it was well worth it.

I don’t know how you do it Dee Ann! I just don’t have the patience to undertake something like that – especially with 5 kids. Hell, sometimes getting myself to do my course work is harder than getting Connor to do his homework!

Cheryl,
At first people would ask me “how long are you going to home school?” I would always answer that “I am doing it one year at a time.”
I guess I am past that now and am in it for the long haul since I have fewer years left than I have already done.
Some times I want to pull my hair out though. Especially with my 14 year old. He is very obstinate at times.
Don’t know how I made it all of these years.

Good for you!! That’s very impressive!! I’ve always thought homeschooling would be a challenge, but still fun!

Nicole,
It is fun some of the time. I have enjoyed spending the time with my kids and think I have a really close relationship with them because of it.
I think my kids have done well and have really benefited from it.
I don’t think I would change what I have done even thought there were times when I did not think I could do it any more.
Thanks for stopping by.

Jayme,
I would not say that patience is my best thing either. My kids have seen me really mad and frustrated to say the least. We seem to have developed a relationship though were we can say most anything to each other and then just go on. I think it is because I home schooled them and we had to get along. I am extremely close to all of my children which I love.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week end.

What a beautiful family! Good for you for home schooling. I also don’t think I could home school for various reasons, but I always give credit to those who do.

Kriss,
Thank you!
I really think that anyone can home school. It is not that I am patient or really good at anything. I just do it.
I actually got started because Kira was really sick when she was little and they did not expect her to live past 14 or 15. She was on a lot of medications. I finally went to the doctor and said something has to go either the medications or school (she was in 2nd grade). The doctor told me it was life threatening to take her off of any of her medications so it was school. Then it was to difficult to have one at home and one in school so I just did all of them and kept doing and doing and doing until I am at where I am now.
Take care and thanks for stopping by.
