Cake, Cake, Cake, Cake (Pops)

It has been around a month since my last post and it’s great to be back at Off The Deep End. This last month has been a series of unfortunate events starting with laptop seizing up and ending with my external hard drive losing ALL, I repeat ALL of my photos. The devastation!

It’s been one of those periods of time where I’ve really had to dig deep in my resolve and refuse my invitation to my own pity party… I’m pretty sure that everyone has those times in their life, sometimes it’s with a series of little annoyances that build up & other times it’s a collection of crushing blows that makes you scream “Why me???!!!!!”

These cake pops were no exception, on a day of lots of bad news, I was attempting to make some pretty cake pops to cheer myself up, only to have the entire batch crack! What’s up with that anyway? To be honest though, that is a part of cake pop life and one that I should really be prepared for. So after licking my wounds I set about repairing them and getting on with it. I must say that I am pleased with the result, they still look cute and most importantly they are still very tasty. :)

I’ve decided that Cake Pops are an analogy for life. Sometimes, it goes along swimmingly and things just come together. Other times, there are cracks & spills but you’ve got to just repair them and get on with it! The cake pops here are red velvet in the centre with a white candy melt covering. I have a picture ‘how-to’ post on my blog if you are interested in seeing how they are made, click here for the link. You can also catch the recipe for red velvet cake here.

How is your year going so far?

Peace & Love

xx

What is it about February?!? Honestly, I can’t think of a single person that had a good one – my mother fell and basically cleaned the pavement with her face, my entire house came down with Norovirus…it seems like February was out to get us all this year!
