In the Sunday Strip Down on 12-4 Cheryl called me the “resident internet marketing specialist.”
I am not sure that I am a specialist in anything much less Internet Marketing, but that is my love and the niche that my main blog deeannrice.com is in.
So for my post this time I thought that I would talk about my 10 favorite WordPress plugins.
I started out doing 5 and could not narrow it down so I have 10.
1. CommentLuv
Comment luv is one of my favorite plugins.
There is both a free and paid version to this plugin.
Both versions allow you to place a link to a post you have written next to your name when you comment on a blog that also has commentluv on it.
The paid version gives you many more features including:
1. replaces 7 plugins

2. Top Commenters
3. Additional favorite posts to choose from
4. Control of DoFollow
5. GASP Trackback Log Stats
6. Commentluv Click Stats
7. Keyword Luve Control
8. Profile
I think the very best benefit though is that Andy Bailey does outstanding customer service.
I actually wrote an entire post about this plugin so if you want to know more about it you can go to my post at CommentLuv Premium Goes Live.
2. TweetMeme Button
This plugin puts the button to the right on your post and/or home page.
This makes it very easy for people to tweet your post.
All they have to do is click on the button and a window will pop up with a tweet in it. Then the reader just has to push the tweet button and your post has been tweeted.
The button also shows how many time your post has been tweeted using this button.
3. Tweet Old Post
I like this plugin because my old posts get tweeted randomly on auto pilot.
You can specify the interval you want your old posts tweeted on.
The whole idea is to get your old posts tweeted and there by produce more traffic to your blog.
4. WebReader
This plugin puts
at the top of your post and allows people to listen to your blog. I actually did an entire post on this plugin as well. You can find that post at All The Better To Hear You if you want to go and see the whole post.
The following video shows you how to use this plugin.
5. WP-DBManager
This is a database manager. There are other plugins that do the same thing as this one out there but, this is the one I am using at this time.
The best thing this plugin does is it sends you by email a back up of your database for your blog at what ever interval you specify. I am having it send me one every 12 hours right now.
If you do not backup your blog you need to. You can go and read my post
Oh My @$#%^&%#, I Just Deleted My Entire Blog!!!
and find out what happened to me when I did not back up my blog.
I also had all of my content disappear just a couple of days ago and that time it was Cheryl that I called and cried to. I was on my way to work so she went into my blog and fixed it for me. I was so relieved.
Then a day later I was going to look for something on Off The Deep End and all of the content was gone on this website. Again I called Cheryl. She fixed it on this site as well.
Then about a day later I got a call from Cheryl and all of the content was gone on CoffeeWithCheryl. This time Hostgator, the server where the blog is hosted, had to fix it.
So content does come up missing and entire blogs get deleted.
You need to make sure you have at least your data base backed up daily.
I also wrote a couple of posts on backing up blogs and using the backup if you are interested.

6. WP-Post Views
This plugin allows you to see how many times your posts have been viewed as you can see in the image below.
7. WPLegalPages
This plugin is a paid plugin but you can get it right now for $16.95.
Putting legal pages on you blog is a snap with this plugin.
8. Youtuber
This is the greatest plugin if you want to put YouTube videos on your blog.
I always hated putting YouTube videos on my blogs because it meant that I could not go back into the visual editor after I put in the code for the video.
If I did go back to the visual editor I risked WordPress stripping all of the code out and my video would not longer be there.
This plugin eliminates this problem and videos stay where you put them.
9. WPGravatar
If you have a blog you should have a gravatar.
If you do not you can go to Gravatar.com and set up a free account.
Then if you leave a comment with the same email address as you created your account with, your gravatar will show up with your comment.
This plugin allows those gravatars that people create at Gravatar.com to show up on your blog.
10. ThankMeLater
This plugin will automatically send a thank you e-mail to anyone who leave a comment on your post.
This plug-in allows you at create multiple e-mail messages and to have the messages sent at a time designated by you.
Those are my 10 favorite plugins at this point in my life. Tomorrow I may have a different list. However, I have finally come to a point that I have settled on certain plugins and am not changing them all of the time any more.
I love comments and would love to hear what you think of my 10 plugins. I would also love to hear of any favorite plugins you may have.

Thank you for this post. I am always trying to figure out what plug-ins to use. It is much easier when someone explains them all so clearly. Even though I have been blogging for 2 years I still have no clue what to do on the technical aspect of the blog.

Jayme,
I hope that this was helpful.
I have gone to a lot of posts on plugins and that is how I finally came up with this list.
I really like to read what other people think and like.
Makes it so much easier to figure out what I want to do.
Thanks for stopping by.

I love CommentLuv! I have blogger though and it was a pain to get that installed recently! I”m not even certain it’s on there. I had to enable comments to my blog to make sure people could at least comment on posts.
I love these suggestions!!
